Targeted Link Building & Link Popularity Campaign

When I started out few years ago to design web pages. I was wondering how my web pages would be searched by people around the world. Then I got into search engines and started to figure out how page are showing up there.
Those where the days when Altavista, exite, yahoo and alltheweb where so popular search engines. I started out with a free server web page with www.homestead.com related to jobs and I started submitting to search engine. Through the articles I read I was convienced that the more the visiblity of your webpage the more the exposure and comes on top of the search engine results.
Thus I started started to submiting to search engines. After a while my free website acquired so many inbound links that it started to show up in search engine results.
And I was bombarded by resume from all over the world. I started to check the search engine for my page links and results. It use to show up for many prominent keywords related to jobs. Thats how I got into Search engine optimization and figured out that
link popularity is the key to success of SEO.
So after years of web site promotion work I would like to educate people about my experience with link buiding.
Link Building can be of different types.
1)Non reciprocal links:- This is most important kind of link popularity. You get a better vote from other pages from this kind of link building. Non reciprocal link also increase Page Rank which is googles part of algorithm. This can be achieved by submission to web site directories and search engines.
2)Reciprocal link exchange:- This way of link popularity building is common practice among webmasters. To acquire reciprocal link you should ask webmasters to link to yourwebsite for a link on your site. Usually reciprocal link exchange is by writing emails to web masters.
